Woah. 4th Matrix Film in Development starring Keanu Reeves
Aug 20, 2019 - 5:56 PM - by Evil Avatar

Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Lana Wachowski, co-creator and director of the The Matrix, are returning to the fold for a fourth installment of the seminal action franchise. Wachowski is set to write, helm and produce the new feature project, with Reeves and Moss reprising their respective roles as action heroes Neo and Trinity.

Warner Bros. will once again team with Village Roadshow for the project. “We could not be more excited to be re-entering The Matrix with Lana,” Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich said Tuesday in a statement. “Lana is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe.”

"Many of the ideas Lilly [Wachowski, Lana's sister] and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,” said Wachowski. “I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”

Wachowski is producing the film together with Grant Hill. The screenplay is by Wachowski, Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell.

The Matrix, written and directed by the Wachowskis, was released in 1999 and was seen as revolutionary in its idea of reality, metaphors in anti-authority and, of course, action scenes that introduced “bullet time.” The initial movie was not just a box office smash but a critical hit and was followed by two sequels, 2003's The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. While those movies also raked it in at the box office, it was diminishing returns for audience loyalty and reception.

Everspace 2 Announced for PS4, Xbox One and PC
Aug 20, 2019 - 5:49 PM - by Evil Avatar

World premiere: Everspace 2 at gamescom Opening Night Live

After Rockfish Games landed a surprise hit on PC and consoles with its studio debut Everspace, the independent developer from Hamburg has announced the official successor Everspace 2 at gamescom: Opening Night Live. In contrast to the roguelike concept of its predecessor, Everspace 2is an open world space shooter with classic RPG elements and persistent player progression, as well as many more player ships and significantly enhanced storytelling. Everspace 2has a planned Steam Early Access release in late 2020 with the full version arriving on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at the end of 2021.

The first trailer, which celebrated its premiere at gamescom: Opening Night Live, and is available on the Rockfish Games YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/I-LNiZxsY7s, was created exclusively from in-game pre-alpha captured video. Space game enthusiasts attending gamescom can get a first taste of the quality, gameplay and open-world feeling at the Rockfish stand inthe Indie Arena Booth (Hall 10.2), where a polished prototype will be playable.

"With its innovative concept of rapid space battles with rogue-like elements and exciting storytelling,Everspace was able to excite over a million PC and console players, but many of our fans and space game enthusiasts were still longing for an open world space shooter with classic RPG elements in the Everspace universe," says Michael Schade, CEO and co-founder of Rockfish Games. "With Everspace 2, we are making a big leap towards an open world space shooter, but will still remain true to our DNA and offer exactly what our fans love: a beautiful fantastic sci-fi world paired with uncompromising space action that gets down to business right away".

Everspace 2will clearly surpass outperform its predecessor in terms of both audiovisual quality and scope, which is reflected in the significantly higher development budget. Rockfish Games plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign on September 9, 2019 with a funding goal of €450,000 for Everspace 2. As with the successful campaign of its predecessor in 2015, the Everspace community will thus be involved in the development process as early as possible. Moreover, the financial independence of the studio will be further secured in order to ensure full creative control at all times during production and, if successful, to even increase the scope of the game by activating stretch goals.

After the world premiere at gamescom, Rockfish Games will present Everspace 2at Pax West in Seattle from August 29 to September 2 and at TwitchCon in San Diego from September 27 to 29.

Spider-Man reportedly out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Aug 20, 2019 - 5:45 PM - by Evil Avatar

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige won’t produce any further Spider-Man films because of an inability by Disney and Sony Pictures to reach new terms that would have given the former a co-financing stake going forward. A dispute that has taken place over the past few months at the top of Disney and Sony has essentially nixed Feige, and the future involvement of Marvel from the Spider-Man universe, sources said.

This comes at a moment when the last two films Kevin Feige produced broke all-time records — Disney’s Avengers: Endgame became the highest grossing film of all time, and Spider-Man: Far From Home this week surpassed the James Bond film Skyfall to become the all time highest grossing film for Sony Pictures.

Sources said there are two more Spider-Man films in the works that are meant to have director Jon Watts and Tom Holland front and center, though Watts doesn’t have a deal for the next picture. Unless something dramatic happens, Feige won’t be the lead creative producer of those pictures.

There is a lot of webbing here, but it all comes down to money, and it’s easy to understand why both sides refused to give ground. Disney asked that future Spider-Man films be a 50/50 co-financing arrangement between the studios, and there were discussions that this might extend to other films in the Spider-Man universe. Sony turned that offer down flat. Sources said that Sony, led by Tom Rothman and Tony Vinciquerra, came back with other configurations, but Disney didn’t want to do that. But Sony did not want to share its biggest franchise. Sure Disney would be putting up half the funding, but the risk is in how much you are going to make back in profit. Disney wasn’t at all interested in continuing the current terms where Marvel receives in the range of 5% of first dollar gross, sources said.

Comanche Announced for PC
Aug 20, 2019 - 5:42 PM - by Evil Avatar

CLASSIFIED: Blueprints for RAH-66 "Comanche" have leaked!

Critical security breach reported. Loss of classified military documents confirmed: The Blueprints for the advanced reconnaissance and attack helicopter RAH-66 Comanche have been leaked. The activity of a whistleblower is most likely. As a reaction, SACEUR has authorized THQ Nordic and Nukklear to continue with the production of "Comanche" as fast as possible to counter any possible threat and to start an "Early Access" program in early 2020.

Wait... the Comanche program is back, although it has been canceled after the rise of modern UAVs? Yep, that's the background story for the new take on Comanche, that THQ Nordic and developer Nukklear have announced today. After the Iran-US RQ170 incident from December 2011, in which a UAV was hacked and captured through cyberwarfare, the "RAH-66 Comanche" was brought back to life, and received a new role. Next to reconnaissance and air-to-ground combat, the new Comanche also acts as a carrier of a specialized, non-hackable short-range drone, that is designed to operate in high-risk environments. A new era of helicopter warfare is about to begin ...

With this setting, the new game - simply called Comanche again and based on the legendary gaming franchise from Novalagic - is set to take off 2020. Comanche will begin its early access campaign and lift off as a modern, team-based online multiplayer helicopter shooter. But that's not the only new twist. Besides your Comanche, you will also control a small, armed drone for close-quarters combat and special duties. Each Comanche/drone setup will have its own strengths and weaknesses and fulfill an important role in the objective-based team-vs-team encounters.

Early access will allow the developer to create a new, a modern Comanche experience in cooperation with the fans and the community, to ensure the best helicopter warfare game ever. Comanche is bound to release in Q1 2020 on Steam's early access program. The game is powered by Unreal Engine 4.

Sony Buys Spider-Man Developer Insomniac Games
Aug 19, 2019 - 8:05 PM - by Evil Avatar

Sony has purchased the California-based game studio Insomniac Games, best known for last year’s Spider-Man on PS4. Insomniac will become an exclusive PlayStation developer, Sony says.

Founded in 1994, Insomniac remained independent for 25 years, working largely with Sony on series like Ratchet & Clank and Resistance but also with other big game companies like Microsoft, which published the colorful open-world game Sunset Overdrive (unlikely to get a sequel any time soon).

Insomniac has also worked on several VR games with Oculus, including the upcoming Stormland, currently announced as an Oculus Rift exclusive. Notably, Insomniac’s previous VR games have not been released on PlayStation VR.

Spider-Man, a PS4 exclusive, was the studio’s most successful game, selling 13.2 million copies according to a Sony press release today. Given that fact, this news, and the end of the first game, it’s safe to say that a sequel is in the works for PlayStation 5.

Netflix Announces Anime He-Man Series from Director Kevin Smith
Aug 19, 2019 - 7:19 AM - by Evil Avatar

Kevin Smith surprised audiences at Sunday’s annual Power-Con convention by announcing a new anime “He-Man” series for Netflix.

The new series, titled “Masters of the Universe: Revelation,” will take place in the Mattel toy inspired world and will focus on some of the unresolved storylines of the classic ‘80s show. Smith will serve as showrunner and executive producer.

“I’m Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull, but also their entire Universe,” Smith said. “In ‘Revelation,’ we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! Brought to life with the most metal character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!”

Mattel Television is producing alongside executive producer Rob David, the vice president of Mattel TV and author of “He-Man: the Eternity War.” Writers include Eric Carrasco (“Supergirl”), Tim Sheridan (“Reign of the Supermen”), Diya Mishra (“Magic the Gathering”) and Marc Bernardin (“Alphas”). “Castlevania’s” Powerhouse Animation will oversee animation for the series.

“’Masters of the Universe’ has been a cultural phenomenon for generations, inspiring fans to discover their own power within,” David said. “Fans of this franchise have been waiting for the continuation of these characters, and Kevin Smith, as a ‘Masters’ superfan himself, is the perfect champion and partner to expand the canon through a dynamic animated series on Netflix.”

NVIDIA Announces Minecraft Ray Tracing for Windows
Aug 19, 2019 - 7:12 AM - by Evil Avatar

A new engine and a new way to experience Minecraft!

Minecraft is on so many platforms, and the great thing about that is that it opens up so many fun possibilities about how we can change the experience for each one. We added touch controls when we developed the mobile version, put you inside Minecraft on Gear VR, and enabled multiplayer across consoles and devices with our Better Together update!

Today we’re announcing two new ways we’re taking advantage of existing and updating hardware. One, we’re expanding the scope of Minecraft on bedrock platforms with our new engine, Render Dragon. Second, we’re pushing the graphical possibilities of the game by partnering with NVIDIA to bring real-time ray tracing to Minecraft. Prepare your eyes!

We couldn’t be more excited to take advantage of the new ray tracing technology from NVIDIA. It’ll be playable on Windows 10 with devices that are capable of DirectX R, such as with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU (and we plan to expand it to future platforms that support DirectX R raytracing).

With the capabilities of this tech, you’ll be able to experience your Minecraft worlds with realistic lighting, vibrant colors, , realistic water that reflects and refracts naturally, and emissive textures that light up. What does ‘emissive’ mean? It means you’re about to see Minecraft like you’ve never seen it before!

George R.R. Martin Says HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ Ending Won’t Influence Future Novels
Aug 18, 2019 - 5:32 PM - by Evil Avatar

Geroge R.R. Martin is sticking to his original plan when it comes to the future of “Game of Thrones.”

In an interview with The Observer, Martin claimed that HBO’s controversial ending for the series would have no affect on the endings of the last two novels. “No, it doesn’t. It doesn’t change anything at all,” he said. “You can’t please everybody, so you’ve got to please yourself.”

Although Martin refrained from giving his stance on the online vitriol surrounding the series’ finale (“I took myself out of all that,” he said), Martin did vaguely address some of the fan theories at the heart of the conversation.

“Some of [the theories] are right and some of [the theories] are wrong,” he said. “They’ll find out when I finish.”

Martin also opened up about life after HBO, a change that actually made writing more difficult.

“I don’t think [the TV series] was very good for me,” he said. “The very thing that should have speeded me up actually slowed me down. Every day I sat down to write and even if I had a good day … I’d feel terrible because I’d be thinking: ‘My God, I have to finish the book. I’ve only written four pages when I should have written 40.’”

I have been saying for months that Martin would look at how the ending of the TV show crashed and burned with fans and he wouldn't make the same mistakes. It looks like he is starting to try to distance himself from the terrible show writers.

Apex Legends producer calls players 'ass-hats' and 'dicks' in heated Reddit thread
Aug 18, 2019 - 5:13 PM - by Evil Avatar

A Reddit thread in which Apex Legends developer Respawn admitted its fairly expensive, complicated Iron Crown Collection Event had "missed the mark" has descended into recriminations and more debate about the relationship between developers and fans.

The thread, which announced changes to the way players obtain Legendary skins during the event, attracted comments from individual Respawn developers, including executive producer Drew McCoy. In the course of the discussion, McCoy called players "ass-hats" and "dicks", and lamented toxicity in the community.

"I've been in the industry long enough to remember when players weren't complete ass-hats to developers and it was pretty neat. I forged a bunch of long lasting relationships from back then," he said in one comment. "Would be awesome to get back there, and not engaging with toxic people or asking 'how high' when a mob screams 'jump' is hopefully a start."
PC Gamer.

I've been in the community long enough to remember when games were released finished and when DLC was released for free because developers appreciated the customer.

Update from Respawn Director Vince Zampella:

“On Friday, we gave Apex fans an update on how we were changing the Iron Crown event. Some of the team then joined a discussion with our community on Reddit, and things got to a pretty bad place. Some of our folks crossed a line with their comments, and that’s not how we want Respawn o be represented.

I apologize to any of our fans that were offended. I will always stand behind the team here at Respawn and support them on speaking out against some of the toxic and nasty comments being directed at them, including everything from death threats to comments aimed at their family and loved ones. But we shouldn’t contribute to it when we do comment, and add to the very thing we want to prevent.

We need to lead by example. Last week we didn’t do that, and going forward we will be better. Having an open, healthy relationship with our community is incredibly important to all of us at Respawn.”

Ewan McGregor in Talks for an Obi-Wan Kenobi Series for Disney+
Aug 16, 2019 - 8:34 AM - by Evil Avatar

The Jedi Order is once again calling Ewan McGregor into service.

The actor, who famously portrayed the masterful Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi in three Star Wars movies, is in negotiations to reprise the role in a Kenobi-centered series for Disney+, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The development positions the series as the third Star Wars title being made for the upcoming streaming platform, which is set to launch this fall and is meant to take aim at rival digital services such as Netflix while taking Disney and its brands into new audience realms.

Disney+ and Lucasfilm, the producer behind all things Star Wars, are already making The Mandalorian, a series based on the class of warriors and bounty hunters first embodied by fan-favorite Boba Fett, and an untitled series characterized as a prequel to 2016's Rogue One featuring Rebel Alliance officer Cassian Andor, with Diego Luna reprising the role.

No timeline or creative talent for the Kenobi project were revealed. The Mandalorian is set to debut in November as a launch title for Disney+, while the Rogue One prequel has Stephen Schiff (The Americans) writing and showrunning.

On PS4, THQ Nordic will be distributing the digital and physical Standard Edition, as well as the the digital version of the Hero Edition, with digital preorders starting today, on August 14 2019.

Monkey King: Hero is Back Overview

The game is based on the thrilling Chinese action fantasy movie "Monkey King: Hero is Back" that was released in theaters in 2015 and tells the story of a young boy named Liuer and his adventures with the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, who is released after having been imprisoned for 500 years. Known by movie fans worldwide as one of the premier examples of Chinese animation, the movie went on to set a box office record for animated movies in China at the time, grossing more than 160 million EUR upon its release.

With "Monkey King: Hero is Back" for PlayStation 4, Sony Interactive Entertainment has teamed up with Oct Animation Studio, the studio behind the movie's breathtaking visuals, to create a game faithful to the look and feel of the movie.

Like the movie, this action-adventure game tells the story of the young monk Liuer meeting his hero Sun Wukong, but places the focus on the Monkey King himself while also introducing players to various stories and subplots not found in the movie. Together, Sun Wukong, Liuer, and Pigsy embark on a journey of adventure, while deepening the bonds of friendship between them. Players assume the role of Sun Wukong and use his mystical skills and abilities to defeat the assorted foes before them. The game immerses players in the middle of their own tale of adventure, while also enabling them to experience the rich and deep story the beloved movie is known for.

The "Monkey King: Hero is Back” Hero Edition features the main game plus the season pass, consisting of two additional stories available as DLC (“Uproar in Heaven” and “Mind Palace”), 2 in-game costumes for the protagonist (Tuxedo and the Dasheng Doll), as well as special items that can be utilized within the game.

The preorders for both editions on PS4 will begin on August 14 2019. Additionally, the PS4 versions will feature a special bonus for those who pre-order the game: two exclusive game modes (“Paradise” and “Desperation”), and a PS4 theme.

“We’re delivering more options than ever before for players to be unique and make themselves known,” said Riley Cooper, Creative Director at Ghost Games. “Our fans have been clear that they want more cars, more customization, and more challenges, and we’re tuning up on every aspect. From your character’s style to your car’s performance and your driving style, we’re fuelling everyone’s creativity with this new game.”

The Most Memorable Games based on Movies in Recent Times
Aug 13, 2019 - 5:49 PM - by Evil Avatar

The movie business and gaming business have bound together in recent times, especially in a modern age where technological growth has enabled our games to look far more advanced and, therefore, nearer in terms of graphics and effects to the movies we see at our local cinemas.

Plenty of excellent movies have found themselves branching out and releasing a game off the back of a film’s success, with gamers seemingly taking to this approach fairly well, especially judging by the amount of games there have been in this particular genre. But there is, of course, some absolute shockers from this genre also, with some creations not going down well at all. Overall, though, it’s a genre that is seemingly growing all of the time and, above all else, has plenty of fun games to try out.

With hundreds, if not thousands, of games based on movies being released in recent times, we thought we’d narrow it down to some of the more memorable creations below.

Alien’s Versus Predator Classic 2000

There are plenty of games which bear the Aliens vs/versus/v Predator name, but none of them top this one. This tri-protagonist shooter remains a highlight, not only because of it’s eerily spooky gameplay which contains endless jumpy moments, but also because it encapsulates the fear and spookiness of the movie perfectly. You’ll be on edge playing this one as you walk through dimly-lit corridors with the knowledge that something lethal could be waiting around any corner.

Stars Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

James Bond fans ask who is the best 007? Roulette gamers always wonder what is the best bet in roulette? American football fans tend to debate around just who is the greatest player of all-time? As do Star Wars fans, who are certainly a dedicated army and regularly scrutinise the franchise, especially when a game is released alongside it. Some simply don’t hit the mark, but Stars Wars: Knights of the Old Republic certainly does. A game full of heart and humour, this is a creation for grown-up gamers and is a nod to some of the classic Star Wars films from the past. An RPG, this is a must-have for all fans of the films.

Blade Runner

Everyone’s seen Blade Runner the movie, right? Well the game isn’t too shabby either. This 2D/3D mash-up adventure game, in which you can draw your pistol at any point, is a highly entertaining play. With its visual nod’s to some scenes from the movie and a sense of being in constant danger as you walk the streets, it feels exactly like a Blade Runner video game should feel like. It does have the odd ridiculous puzzle or the occasion silly story, but overall Blade Runner is a truly epic game based on a movie.

The Thing

A perfectly executed game when it comes to evoking its source material, including the tension, paranoia and brutality, The Thing is just as gripping as the movie is and received excellent reviews at the time of its release. Battling against various aliens and even trying to determine who is an alien and who isn’t as you trudge your way through darkness, this game isn’t for the faint hearted. With its sparse and sinister music, odd camera angles and the constant feeling of loneliness, this really is a classic.

Mad Max

If you don’t know what Mad Max is then you simply haven’t lived. Same applies to this game, too. An open-world action game in the desert, Mad Max is highly entertaining, incredibly fun and full of pure unadulterated mayhem which will certainly satisfy your gaming needs.

XIII Remake Delayed to 2020
Aug 10, 2019 - 7:46 PM - by Evil Avatar

After revealing the game’s teaser last April, Microïds and PlayMagic are announcing today a new release window for the game. The remake of the world-famous cel-shading FPS, which became a cult classic after its original release in 2003, is now set for a release in 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Mac.

“We are thrilled with PlayMagic’s work so far. This additional development time is needed to reach the level of polish we’re aiming for. The announcement was greeted by an overwhelming response from the community and we’ll make sure to deliver the best possible game to our fans.” says François Coulon – Head of Production at Microïds.

The Story

Play as the famous Thirteen, accused of assassinating the President of the United States. You’ll wake up injured and suffering from amnesia on Brighton beach; the only clues to your past will be a small key and a mysterious tattoo of the Roman numerals XIII on your collarbone. It’ll be up to you to find the answers during this 34-level solo game. Don’t worry: you’ll find an entire arsenal of weapons to help you on your journey.
What a shame! I was looking forward to this one, since I wrote the strategy guide for the first game.

Trump Cancels Blumhouse's Hunting License
Aug 10, 2019 - 7:40 PM - by Evil Avatar

Blumhouse & Universal Pictures has canceled the release of the Purge-style film The Hunt after the public became aware that the plot of the movie is a group of liberal elites use assault rifles to hunt a group of "deplorables".

Universal Pictures has canceled the release of its upcoming thriller “The Hunt.” The film was previously set to hit theaters Sept. 27.

“While Universal Pictures had already paused the marketing campaign for The Hunt, after thoughtful consideration, the studio has decided to cancel our plans to release the film, ” a spokesperson for Universal said in a statement. “We stand by our filmmakers and will continue to distribute films in partnership with bold and visionary creators, like those associated with this satirical social thriller, but we understand that now is not the right time to release this film.”

Insiders tell Variety that the studio came to the decision alongside “The Hunt” filmmakers. They also said it was a tough decision for the company, but studio leadership ultimately determined that the film could wait.

Modern Warfare lets you equip a bloodthirsty Tamagotchi
Aug 08, 2019 - 9:11 AM - by Evil Avatar

Tamagotchis, the cute digital pets that taught kids all about the futility of life and how forming attachments only leads to tragedy, will be featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. COD's critter, however, is called a Tamagunchi, and it feeds on death. Lovely!

A Game Informer preview spilled the beans on this unusual new feature, which apparently sprouted out of the functional wristwatch. At first it just told the time accurately, which is actually kinda cool, but then the designers started coming up with new possibilities, like stuff you get in fitness trackers, and somewhere along the line that morphed into adding a pet.

While the Tamagotchi heyday was back in the '90s, they're still around, and you can squeeze them into your smartwatch. So I guess it's not that weird for a soldier to be nurturing one while they're on tour, or in a deathmatch.

A Tamagunchi, unlike its inspiration, doesn't need to kept alive with food—thank God, because mine all starved to death—and instead craves what everyone in COD craves: more kills. The more you kill, the happier your Tamagunchi will be, like a little devil on your shoulder encouraging you to get a killstreak.

"This little thing on your wrist, every time you get a string of kills, it goes, 'Ya-ta!' and it makes a little noise, then you look at it, and it evolved out of an egg," Art director art director Joel Emslie said. "Tamagunchis are fed by the player’s performance in multiplayer. It’s just this little active wristwatch thing."

If you don't care for it, your Tamagunchi will "rot and die", so there's some incentive to go on multiplayer rampages. You'll be shooting for two.

Ninja hits One Million Subscribers on Mixer
Aug 08, 2019 - 9:05 AM - by Evil Avatar

Less than one week after parting ways with Twitch to try his luck on Microsoft's Mixer streaming platform, Fortnite mega-streamer Tyler "Ninja" Blevins has already racked up more than one million subscribers.

Those of you who have perused Ninja's Mixer channel will likely know that subscriptions are free for everyone until the end of September, which is obviously (and hugely) inflating the numbers. The situation will get a lot more interesting when the freebie period is over, and we see how much of that subscriber base—whatever it ultimately adds up to, because there's still almost two full months left in the promo—sticks around.
PC Gamer.

Like what happened with Apex Legends, it isn't about getting people to sign up, it's getting them to stay. I still think that because Mixer isn't an established plaform, his viewer base will crash-and-burn soon.

GreedFall shows off RPG features in Massive Gameplay Overview Trailer
Aug 07, 2019 - 6:59 AM - by Evil Avatar

GreedFall, the latest RPG from Spiders studio, takes you on a journey to the mysterious and uncharted Island of Teer Fradee. Forge your own destiny when the game releases September 10 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. In a new Gameplay Overview Trailer, Spiders and Focus Home Interactive give you a tour of the numerous features that mark GreedFall as a core RPG with player choice at its heart.

Creating your character and picking your starting skills, attributes, and talents is just the beginning when it comes to carving your own path on Teer Fradee, whether you choose to specialize or be a jack-of-all-trades. In addition, the deep crafting system allows you to customize equipment, tailoring their look and stats to suit your playstyle.

When resorting to combat, you can approach it in your own way: subdue foes with heavy weapons, use your rapier to parry and riposte with flair, or control the battlefield using traps and magic. The optional tactical pause menu allows you to choose your next moves strategically. Your party members will follow you into battle, but keep in mind that they are people with their own hopes, goals and motives. Say or do the wrong thing and their loyalty to you could waver, or even turn entirely.

Your decisions will shape the future of the new world and the old, and so GreedFall provides you with the freedom to make them. Don the armor of an enemy faction to pose as one of their own or use your diplomatic talents to influence the powerful elite; these are just some of the opportunities you’ll be given in GreedFall.

GreedFall releases 10 September 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Pre-orders are live now on Steam and at retailers. For more information, visit greedfall.com.

Amazon Developing Event Horizon TV Series
Aug 06, 2019 - 10:00 AM - by Evil Avatar

Amazon is expanding its partnership with Paramount TV with a series based on the 1997 movie Event Horizon.

Adam Wingard (2016's Blair Witch, the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong) is attached as director and executive producer of the project, which is in development. Paramount TV is producing; the studio released the film, which was a flop in its time but has since acquired something of a cult following.

The movie, a blend of science fiction and horror, follows the crew of a spaceship called the Lewis and Clark, which in 2047 is sent on a rescue mission when another ship, the Event Horizon, suddenly appears in orbit around Neptune after disappearing seven years earlier. When the Lewis and Clark crew boards the ship, they find the Event Horizon crew massacred and start to experience disturbing visions tied to their own fears.

Paul W.S. Anderson directed Event Horizon from a script by Philip Eisner. The movie famously was rushed to release in August 1997 and was received poorly at the time, making $26.6 million in its theatrical run. It had a more successful second life on video.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood - Sisters, Doing it for Themselves
Aug 06, 2019 - 9:00 AM - by Evil Avatar

The summer game news slowdown isn't stopping writer Aaron Birch from returning with a review of Bethesda's new shooter, Wolfenstein: Youngblood.

Seen widely as a return to form after some divisive attempts, the Bethesda-published resurrections of the classic id FPS, Wolfenstein, have been well received by critics and fans, with developer, MachineGames delivering a modern take on the granddaddy of the FPS, and bringing it's hero, BJ Blazkowicz, back into the limelight. Both New Order and The Big Colossus were great games, and moved the series further away from its stable-mate, Doom's more streamlined shooting in favour of a more varied gameplay experience. Still, the shooting remained solid, and the chance to mow down legions of Nazis, seemingly, never gets old.
