It's a headset thread!

Mic died on my Turtle Beach headset. Earmuffs are working ok...

Gonna need a replacement & don't want to spend a fortune.

I'm not an audiophile... have heard that 7.1 is gimmicky... have been using the set I have for about 4-5 years & they've done the job.

What is out there that any of you have experience with?

Go with what the pros use, Sennheiser is an incredibly popular headset for music studios for a long time, and suddenly realized they could be in the market for gaming headsets, the results have been great:

https://en-us.sennheiser.com/pc-gaming-headset

There's at least two 7.1 headsets in there that I see, and I would trust their quality over anyone. They're well known for having very hardy hardware that doesn't break the first time it gets dropped or anywhere near that level, the sound reproduction is done on an objective basis--they laser-record the headphone output and compare it to the original input.

The Sennheiser model I have is a few years old now when they were just getting into the market, adding mics to their headphones. The mic is so good that I could do podcasting over it and people would mistake it for a high quality studio mic.

2nd page has their more affordable models.

If you're not an audiophile and you don't want to spend a fortune but you want a headset, I can highly recommend the hyperx cloud ii. They can be had for about $90 and are absolutely fantastic. If that's still too much is recommend the previous version the hyperx cloud which is around $75 and still a very nice headset

I second Anenome (depending on your budget). I got a pair of Sennheiser PC363Ds and I quite like them. The best thing (I mean besides the comfort and sound) is the microphone mute when the receiver is lifted.

Got them for a great deal on Amazon (in Canada) so check your local Amazon, I think they do sales on them often.

Sennheiser makes very nice headsets. The price is high on them at Amazon right now, or I would have put them in the Deals post. I usually have one or two sets of Sennheiser in there and the Kingston HyperX Cloud headsets too. I am planning on getting HyperX Cloud Revolver headset soon.

I have two sets of Sennheiser, hyperx cloud ii, turtlebeach 7.1 headset, and various others not really worth mentioning.

The sens are nice but more often then not they sit unused. The TB are absolute shit, $100 shit. Terrible. The cloud ii gets used every single day, love that headset
