I was a nintendo fanboy back in the day. Haven't played any sonic game ever. Gonna give this one a shot.

Sonic 2 was the best. I liked how the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge top would flip open and you can attach previous Sonic games, allowing you to play as Knuckles in 2 and 3.
I also had a soft spot for Knuckles Chaotix. Shame it was a 32X exclusive and nobody bought it. There was an interesting new character who was a chameleon or something that could run as fast as Sonic on surfaces including walls and ceilings. Pretty sure it was the last one in the series I ever played. And good thing, too, because all of the 3D games with stories and voice acting look absolutely abysmal. If I ever see Sonic Mania on a deep Steam sale I'll grab it.
