Every week is shovelware week for the Switch.

Don't get me wrong. I love my Switch. I love the portability, the dedicated games are great, and many of the indie games are awesome. But man, there's a ton of mediocre games released each week and many of the ports of older games have been disappointing (Saints Row 3, AC3) and expensive (RE0, RE4) considering how old they are.

Reviews for Godzilla are starting to roll in, and I can't help but laugh at the general response many critics are having.

Back in 2014, critics complained that there wasn't enough of the monsters. In 2019, they're complaining about there being too much of the monsters, and not enough of the human element.

I'm okay with the way it's looking, so far.

We caved in and got tickets for Godzilla. I have a class to teach in the morning and I didn’t think I would want to do anything after that, but I’m going to tough it out to see Godzilla!!!

Godzilla was pretty much everything I wanted it to be. It most certainly isn't a perfect movie, but it does precisely what it set out to do. I never thought I'd get to see these characters like this on the big screen, and it does not disappoint on that front.

There is a brief post-credits scene, the implications of which will likely directly impact Godzilla vs Kong next year.

We hit Godzilla on Saturday afternoon. Good film. I think that what really bogged it down was the whole "superplane". That thing never made much sense and seemed terribly out of place, even in a movie about giant monsters.

I do agree with some people, the human actors bogged the movie down almost as bad as the first one. They had 7 monsters in the movie and really only 3 fight scenes.

Lots of fun, but I still think they need to strike a better balance between monster fights and the humans. What hurt this one worse than the last was the human actors just weren't very good. At least in the last one you had Brian Cranston to prop up the long-winded human bits.

Like I've been saying for the past 5 years, Lengendary's movies are just as "balanced" as the 30 Toho movies. The human action always comprises most of the movies, and these two aren't any different.
