TV's as PC monitors

Anyone else doing this? I got this 40in 1080p SONY Bravia for 170$ at Best Buy, open box. A big monitor is pretty much a must for me as looking at little ass monitors fucks my eyes all up. I can never go back to a 27,32 ect ect. In fact i have a 24 in dell with an NFC charger cheap as hell if someone wants it.

Was checking out OLED's while i was there, plasma has finally been surpassed. But they are bank. Good thing is 40in 4K LCD's are getting dirt cheap.

Also, yes, im drinking. I put my 2 weeks in at my job. The biz starts soon. Im getting these weird physically sick feelings at work at random times. I guess thats bound to happen when you work 7 days a week for 9 years, no days off.

I did that for a couple years with a Vizio monitor, you lose out on the refresh rate.

Most TVs make it pretty impossible to play fast reaction games

I haven't had a problem yet, not that I've noticed. And wouldn't this apply to consoles hooked to a TV?

Would this apply to a 4k 240htz TV?

Right now a larger 4k monitor with G-Sync is generally going to cost enough to feed a family of 10 for a year or more. But a TV with a high refresh in 'sports' mode or whatever could be competitive.

Except, for some reason I want to say you can't go over a certain refresh on HDMI, you have to have Display Port to get to 120+...

Yeah until this all gets sorted out and i can get a TV that rivals plasma and has a near CRT latency i just buy the cheap stuff as it comes down the pipe. I think in 5 years it should be all worked out and affordable. 4K dropped in price much faster than i thought it would.

Been playing BF4 for the past couple days.

I'm just not having any problems. Top 5, Top 3 almost every round, 1st place in one round. And im old.

Im just not sure a TV with a slightly higher latency than a PC monitor matters when your online with pings as high as 150

with this high a Ping, probably not much. But that is a high ping.

Even when playing in servers in the USA (some 10.000 Km away) I usually get at least 150ms, when playing locally at most 50ms.

But I usually feel lag when I use my bluetooth mouse, things like using a TV usually bothers me too.

But if your TV is good for you, all the better!

I have a 4k 40" tv as my monitor, it's nice and makes me want to change the gtx 1070 i have with a 1080 to be able to use the 4k thing on most games.

Nice. Probably newer and better TV's have lower latency.

Mine is a very simple LG FHD smarTV I bought for very, very cheap 4 or 5 years ago.

Don't get me wrong, i was a CRT snob for years due to their response rate. But i think they are getting better.

It was impossible to play DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) on my father's first LCD TV (this was some 13~15 years ago, I think).

We had to use the old CRT one, else we couldn't hit shit in Paranoia

I use an old Vizio 32 incher as my main display. Sure there is screen tearing from time to time, but I can live with it. I'm not a phile or anything. I like the size. For my new PC that should be coming soon (why does it take Dell a freaking month to deliver an order?) I may get a gaming monitor, though.
