X Rebirth - Trading and Mining Trailer

Quote:
Supply and demand drive the economy. However, in the lively, realistically simulated trade world of X Rebirth, prices are also influenced by pirates, broken station power units, shot-down freighters, good relations with merchants, and many other factors. See the vast trading features of X Rebirth explained in this video.

I always found the X games boring. Why not just play Eve?

I got X3 (and others) from this week's humble bundle and I immediately stopped playing because I didn't understand the controls and they didn't tutorial them and the UI was tiny with text that I couldn't read.

If they don't care about usability, they can count me out.

You can use a gamepad in this one, and the UI has be improved.

Because you (still) can't walk around in space stations and interact with others in Eve.

Because they aren't the same game at all? I can actually fly my ship in the X games, shoot my lasers with a pull of the trigger on my joystick, and launch my missiles after locking onto an enemy I was flying after.

EVE just feels like Waiting, the game.

Apparently they're actually making the interface usable this time, which is a huge plus. I'll give it a shot if the reviews indicate a game that doesn't take 500 hours to figure out(like the previous entries)

I was reading that they are making this game much more accessible for new people.

Believe it or not, there are still people who would rather play single player games. Gaming for me always has been a personal recline where I don't want to interact with other people.
This is why I'd rather play X than Eve and why I'd rather Mr. Roberts focus more on the promised single player campaign of Star Citizen, as the whole persistent-online-yadda-yadda doesn't interest me in the slightest.

Concerning X: If you spend the time to familiarize yourself with the games, they actually can be a lot of fun and very engrossing despite the gameplay sometimes feeling a bit like doing your tax return.
However, even though developers announcing that they are going to make their next game "more accessible" usually raises a red flag in my mind, X is among the games that might really benefit from some casualization.

ditto for me

as long as roberts delivers on the promised ability to run your own game server i'll be happy. i'm really not interested in anything else they're talking about.
