Sir Roger Moore Dead at 89

R.I.P. Sir Roger Moore.

Quote:
Sir Roger Moore has died aged 89.

A statement was released today on the James Bond star's Twitter account by his family.

It read: "With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today. We are all devastated."

He died in Switzerland after a short battle with cancer.

The London-born star is best known for playing famous secret agent 007.

He starred in seven Bond movies between 1973 and 1985.

Before his glittering movie career, Sir Roger served in the Royal Army Service Corps as a second lieutenant, after being conscripted for national service shortly after the end of the Second World War.

We'll all miss him from his masterpiece performance in "Spice World" with the Spice Girls.

Seriously, he was the Bond I grew up with. People like Connery but Moore always seemed to have the elegant sophistication and upper crust accent that felt more Bond. Then there was Moonraker. What an amazing, amazing, amazing, disaster and maybe the funnest Bond movie ever.

RIP.

Moore was the James Bond I grew up with, as well. 'A View to a Kill' is one of the best Bond films ever made, period.

He got the best villains, too: Christopher Lee, Christopher Walken, Grace Jones, and of course mutha fuckin' Jaws.

RIP Sir Moore. May you go to a heaven where Moonraker never happened.

I too questioned my will to live, following the announcement of the RDR 2 delay to 2018.

RIP Roger; We both know you're just secretly in cryostasis until a week prior to the Red Dead Redemption 2 launch and that you have the collector's edition pre-ordered.

Ditto here too. Agree wholeheartedly re: AVtaK (tho' the more recent movies give it a run for it's money...)

Nobody did it better!

He was a fantastic Bond even during the cheezy Moonraker moments. A perfectly 80's film.

Then you've never seen George Lazenby (On Her Majesty's Secret Service) or Timothy Dalton's (Living Daylights, License to Kill) Bond.
