Uplay "Experiencing Issues" on Watch_Dogs Launch Day

Game Informer has word that Ubisoft is aware that its DRM shovelware, Uplay, is "experiencing issues."

Quote:
Watch Dogs is finally here (our review), but it seems that the game is having some problems. According to Ubisoft, users are experiencing login delays that are preventing players from getting the game.

“We are experiencing issues with the authentication services,” the company said via Twitter. “Players may experience long delays when trying to login in-game. More to come.”

Not only that, its also messing with my Ass IV Black Flag. This is just a case of cheap arse publisher not scaling to meet the demand of a new release like EA.

All they need to do is turn off online features for a bunch of games and...problem solved!

I started my first play of Watch Dogs a few hours ago. Couldn't log in. Can't log in on my pad or phone to the CToS app either. Checking here yields the same negative result.

Can play this when the servers feel like it. Can't enjoy it tho because they released it unoptimized and sometimes stutters in the singular frames. Or crashes. Or the controls start spazzing out.

You'd think that they would learn from the mistakes of others. Sigh.

You'd think they would learn from the mistakes of themselves.

At least I feel better about not buying this game now.

I haven't had any issues playing at all. For what it's worth, I picked up the infinitely inferior PS4 version and while I had some issues connecting to UPlay...it didn't hinder my ability to actually play the game.

I have been playing Watch Dogs for the past 4 - 5 hours or so and have to say for me on a personal level the game is far worse than the issues being experienced by Uplay. And it's all due to the worst driving mechanics I have gamed in perhaps 8 years. Just horrendous play in that regard (driving) after the great job in games such as GTA V and Mafia II.

OK its official. Ubisoft DID NOT PUT THEIR A TEAM ON THIS GAME! That team was either too buy working on AC4, or too busy on FarCry 4 or something else.

Game looks last gen, coded to lowest common denominator of 900p on BOTH consoles with jaggies all around.

Compared to the beautiful 1080p anti-aliased Infamous SS, this looks like shit.

Haven't even fired a bullet yet, so can't comment on game play, but I'm disappointed.

PS4 version has smooth cutscenes, but they are choppy on X1. That's all I have to report. Otherwise game looks IDENTICAL on both PS4 and X1 and that makes me sad. It's probably using 50% of the PS4 power.

Christ even Wolfenstein looks leagues better. You can tell last gen porting is partly to blame for this shit. The faster they stop it with the simultaneous last gen release shit, the better off we'll all be.

Yeah its not a next gen game for sure. Old consoles holding it back. Those consoles need to die fast otherwise we will be stuck with shitty looking games from 3rd party devs.

Are you using a mouse keyboard combo? I had the same issues with driving, it was horrible and I think it because of their mouse acceleration.

I used my 360 joystick and it plays way way better for driving, shooting is not so precise anymore, but that's fine for me since I can just click the slo-mo and get the kill every time.

No, I am on the PS4. It's the physics and mechanics rather than the control mechanism. The vehicles are floaty with absolutely no sense of weight. Ther eis also this issue with being forced to take out police cars by hacking redlights, doors, and barriers rather than skillful driving is idiocy.

In addition there is this idea that the developers fell in love with hacking and will do anything necessary to exclude realistic options in order to force hacking. It rather reminds me of the Tank Bog mission from COD4 where if you did not stand right by the tank and defend it you automatically failed the mission. Never mind that flanking up the right side allowed you to effectively supress anyone attempting to engage the tank, you were not doing it the way developers wanted.

This game reeks of developers creating what they felt were some cool mechanics and then shoehorning a game around those mechanics despite such a forcing being wholly unrealistc. Yes it is a game and games make exceptions with realism for the sake of enjoyment, but these exceptions are so ramrod and exclusionary that the thing they sought to engender - enjoyment - is lessened by the channelization and limited options.
